A collection of "huh, really?" rankings. Pick a tab that catches your eye and dig into the numbers.
Active wrestlers in the lightest 25% by weight as of the latest tournament, sorted by career win rate (limited to wrestlers with 50+ career bouts).
How to Read This Page
This page collects rankings from unusual angles that standard records such as rank and championships do not reveal. Combinations of numbers, such as "small but winning" or "low-ranked with a high win rate," bring out the individuality of each wrestler.
Rankings based on win rate include only wrestlers with at least 50 career bouts, so that wrestlers with very few bouts do not dominate the top. A "small" wrestler is defined as being in the lightest 25% of active wrestlers in the latest tournament rather than below a fixed weight, so the definition is unaffected by wrestlers as a whole getting larger or smaller.
Rank gains and losses are compared by converting every rank from jonokuchi to yokozuna into a single sequence and counting how many places a wrestler moved. Wrestlers in makushita and below fight 7 bouts per tournament while those in juryo and above fight 15, so the same win rate moves a wrestler differently depending on his division. If a wrestler catches your eye, open the "Rank history" tab on his page to see his whole career as a chart.
