How to Read This Page
The banzuke is redrawn after every tournament based on results. As a rule, a winning record (8 or more wins out of 15 bouts in juryo and above, 4 or more out of 7 in makushita and below) moves a wrestler up and a losing record moves him down, and the bigger the margin, the bigger the move. This page ranks the wrestlers whose rank has changed the most.
The change is measured by converting every rank from jonokuchi to yokozuna into a single sequence and taking the difference between the first and last rank in the period, expressed in places. You can choose a period of the last 1, 3, 5, or 10 tournaments. A single tournament is swayed by extreme results such as a perfect record or a full absence, while the 5- and 10-tournament views reveal young wrestlers who are steadily improving and wrestlers who have dropped for a long time through injury.
The "places to career-high rank" figure helps distinguish a wrestler who is working his way back to a rank he once held from one reaching that level for the first time. The active win streak ranking counts wins continuing across tournaments; since wrestlers in makushita and below fight only 7 bouts per tournament, a long streak there requires strong results over several tournaments.
